It is hard to believe another month is just about gone. Even though February is a short month, it still seemed to fly by faster than it should have! The month of March is a busy one at Saint Jude School, as we start to turn the corner from winter to the official start of Spring…despite whatever Mother Nature may have in store for us.

One surefire sign of Spring in our community is the beginning of First Communion preparation. Our second graders have begun to get ready to make their First Holy Communion in May. This month, they will make First Penance, one of the stepping stones in receiving the Eucharist. Parents of second graders should be mindful of the calendar, as there will be meetings and information that you will need to know. Reminders will be sent home as well.

One of my personal favorite things about this month though, is our annual Irish Night, being held next weekend, March 6th at the school hall. This is always a fun night, filled with terrific entertainers, lots of laughs and of course, a delicious traditional Irish dinner of corned beef and cabbage. Remember, you don’t need to be Irish to come to Irish Night…just ask our cooks for the evening, Steve Lombardo and Tony Amedio, who will affectionately be known as Steve “O” Lombardo and Tony “Mc”Amedio for the night! Don’t miss out on this wonderful evening.

And last but not least, I would like to mention that standardized testing for Grades 2–8 begins later this month, and runs the entire week of March 22nd. Parents, make sure your children are well-rested and eat a good breakfast every day of testing. It is so important to their performance on these tests that they get ample sleep and are prepared.

With that said, let us all enjoy the upcoming month and all that it brings… no matter what the weather!
