Homework

Homework is an important aspect of the learning process. Parents should be certain that all assignments are completed on time. It is the responsibility of students to make up any missed homework. Students in grades 3-8 are issued student planners in which to record daily assignments.

The work load will increase in accordance with the grade level. The amount of time which different students in the same grade will spend on homework will vary. However, the following table provides guidelines as to the amount of time a student should spend daily on homework:

  • Grades 7-8: 1 to 11/2 hours

Report Cards

Report cards are issued four times a year to students in grades 2-8 (November, January, April, and June.) A parent/guardian signature indicates the report card has been examined. It does not mean that the parent/guardian approves or disapproves of it. Signed report cards are then returned to the homeroom teacher.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences are held following the distribution of report cards three times a year. Conferences are scheduled for ten minute periods. Should a parent or teacher believe it is necessary to meet for a longer period of time, another appointment may be scheduled. Parents/teachers may request conferences at any time during the school year. These conferences must be scheduled through the office.

No teacher should be contacted at home concerning school busses. No conferences will be scheduled before the start of the school day.

Field Trips

Field trips are an important part of the educational process. Students attending field trips, must, by the due date, present the completed parental consent form. A telephone call is not sufficient.
